DADIH ICE-CREAM! ‘Sinless’ dessert!

I’m pretty sure most of us know what is dadih. I’ve known dadih since my toddler days because my uncle worked in Pejabat Haiwan, or better known now as Department of Veterinary Services in Penang. They made the best dadih ever! From fresh milk, of course!

Now after 30 years, I still love dadih, and in 2009, my beloved nephew started producing his own dadih ice-cream. Yes! Dadih + Ice-Cream = Dadih Ice-Cream! From a humble kitchen in Batu Pahat, to another humble production house in Alor Setar, now it has grown into a production plant and supply chain hub back in our kampung backyard.

And he does have a stockist in Klang Valley – Zarfadias Dadih Ice-Cream operating from a lovely kitchen in Cheras!

This Dadih Ice-Cream comes in ready-to-eat form and premix powder for those who love to DIY. How to DIY? It is super easy, quick and practically fool proof. The taste? Nyum… nyum… nyum… I literally close my eyes with every bite… so what do you think? Hehe… *wink!*

Now that I've made my case for the merits of this lovely dessert, let's move on and talk about how luscious it is, how perfectly creamy, in a way that belies its utter simplicity. And let me walk you through making Zarfadias dadih ice-cream DIY, step by step.

To Cook
Step 1 : Boil water (how much water depends on how much premix powder you use)
Step 2 : Pour in the premix powder
Step 3 : Boil the mixture again

To Eat
Step 4 : Pour the mixture into any bowl you like
Step 5 : Let it cool down / chilled
Step 6 : Dig in!

I made dadih ice-cream numerous times at home, and insisted to my friends that it was a piece of cake to make. No, actually — easier than cake. Hahaha… My friends went home, tried DIY and reported back, wide-eyed, that they couldn't believe how easy and quick it was. I find that's usually the case with Zarfadias Dadih Ice-Cream DIY premix, it's actually easier than making Jell-O out of a box.

There I go again about how easy this is. Let's get back to how it tastes, shall we?

Dadih is a very basic pudding that is made of creamy dairy thickened with edible gelatine. You can eat it straight out of a cup, but it can also be unmolded onto a plate and drizzled with sweet sauce and garnished with fruit, just like panna cotta. A bite of dadih, especially dadih ice-cream is remarkably creamy, melting in the mouth without a trace of grittiness or lumps.
